Before changing lanes you should
Signal for at least two seconds and quickly change lanes
Speed up so you are going faster than the traffic in the
other lane
Signal in plenty of time, check your mirrors and
look over your shoulder for other vehicles

- Turn on your signal.
- Check your mirrors.
- Check your blind spot by looking over your shoulder.
- If it is safe, change lanes.
- Turn off your signal after completing the lane change.
