A provisional licence lets you drive on public roads to gain experience before taking the test for your full driver's licence. It's issued only after you pass a test on the rules of the road and traffic signs and signals, the same knowledge this site and app help you study.
You must be at least 16 years old. The Highway Code sets 16 as the minimum age to obtain a Zimbabwean driver's licence, and you must be over 16 to sit the learner's licence exam. Bring identification showing your date of birth. See the full provisional licence requirements.
Expect to be asked for a national ID or valid passport, passport-sized photographs, a completed application form, and proof that the fee has been paid. Depots do not all ask for exactly the same paperwork, so confirm the current list with your local VID depot before you travel. Our requirements guide walks through it in full.

The provisional theory test is 25 questions drawn from the Highway Code, road signs, and road rules. Our 16 test papers use the same 25-question format so you know exactly what to expect.
The pass mark is 88%. Out of 25 questions that means you can afford to get at most three wrong, which is why guessing does not work. Practise with our 2026 test papers until you are clearing 88% comfortably before you book.

Yes, you can retake the VID theory test if you don't pass. Contact your local VID office for their current retake process and any waiting period.
VID theory and practical tests are booked and taken in person at your local Vehicle Inspection Depot (VID) office. This site and app are independent study tools, they don't book tests or issue licences.
Yes. When driving on a learner's/provisional licence, a fully-licensed driver must accompany you at all times, except on certain vehicles that only have a seat for the driver. Passengers are not allowed on an auto-cycle or motorcycle while learning. See Using the Road in the Highway Code for the full rule.
You do not need a PDF. The complete Zimbabwe Highway Code is published free on this site as web pages that read properly on a phone and stay current.
