On roads running close to a river, a dam or a lake shore, where hippo cross between the water and the land.
What to do
Take it slowly here after dark above all. On dipped headlights you cannot see far, and an animal of that size fills the road before your lights have shown it to you. Stop and wait for it to move off rather than trying to get past.
