At the top of a descent, where the road falls away in front of you.

What to do

Take a low gear before you start down and let the engine hold the vehicle back, instead of riding the brakes to the bottom. Do not sit close in front of a heavy vehicle here: its load pushes it forward on a slope and it needs far more room to stop than you do.
